24 is Crack

Posted by sethbc on February 20, 2006

Okay. So i’ve watched like 12 episodes of 24 in like 15 hours. Ridiculous. It really is like crack. I want to go scouring the streets for the remaining DVDs that i don’t have!

Still waiting on my MacBook Pro. Order status says I should be getting it by like the 3rd of March. I BETTER!

Alright. 24 is on soon…and it’s the new season. I gotta get my fix!

Busy Day is Over!

Posted by sethbc on February 19, 2006

Well, my busy day is over! I did pretty much everything I needed to get done, and my apartment is looking better and better…still got one long blank wall, but i’m sure i’ll fill it as i get some more prints.

The chili cookoff was pretty interesting. It was about 8 degrees out there, so everyone was freezing! The moot court lunch was a little boring. We kind of got seated at the kids table. It was me, Alice, Maggie and Margaret. Jeff, Jackie, LA, Abby, Ken and Damian were at the table next to ours. The judges and faculty were seated with the more important board members, and the two finalists.

Anyway, after lunch I went to BB&B, got some more stuff for the room that I needed (another trash can, paper towel holders, and a couple 5×7 frames).

Unfortunately, we ended up losing the Harvard game tonight, and right after that we lost to Penn in basketball. During the game I got a lot of laundry going, so now all my clothes are clean!

Anyway, tomorrow I’m definitely going skating at night. Other than that, probably just sleep late.

Busy Day

Posted by sethbc on February 18, 2006

I actually have a busy day tomorrow (today?)! Both the chili cook-off (with Alice) and the moot court lunch (with about nine-gagillion people — including 3 federal judges), and then I have a substantial amount of errands to do (I’m assuming with no one :-P). Unfortunately I don’t have tickets to Harvard, but I wasn’t willing to pay what people wanted to charge (which may or may not have included at least one testicle).

Tops among the items on my list of errands? Laundry, shopping, planning a menu for this week for walking that fine line (;-)), and screaming at the post office supervisor. I may have to get some Best Buy action in there, I’m running out of DVD+Rs(-Rs). By that time, I’m going to be pretty much dead to the world from exhaustion.

I’m guessing that I’ll probably be setting up the trip to Italy soon, so if you’re over in Europe any time from March 14th to March 26th, feel free to either meet me in Rome, or pick another random European city.

Oh yeah, I need to make some more prints!

Oh yeah. So apparently I have classes? And they have like, some work or something?

Moot Court

Posted by sethbc on February 15, 2006

Well I’m in the Quarters now. I won my first round (which I argued as Respondent), and my second round (which I argued as Petitioner). This round I’ll be arguing as Respondent, which, at least arguably, is an easier side to argue for this case. For the most part, I feel like Respondent’s side has the more passionate arguments, and Petitioner’s side has more common sense arguments. That certainly doesn’t mean either side is more likely to win, but personally, I feel like my argument has better flow as Respondent.

Turns out my opponent wanted to argue Respondent as well, but I managed to win the coin flip! Come out and support me tomorrow if you’re at all inclined!

In other news, I’ve been learning French by reading Le Comte de Monte Cristo. The going is slow, but it’s amazing how fast I’ve been picking things up. I’m only through the first couple of chapters, and I feel like my reading ability is infinitely better than it was when I started. By the time i finish Tome 1, I think I might even be able to read Tome 2 without the translation handy!

Another Great Round

Posted by sethbc on February 11, 2006

I had another great round yesterday. I handled myself pretty well, I only have to work on my memorization. I’ll found out who I’m facing in the prelims, but I’m not that worried about it, it really doesn’t matter who it is, it isn’t going to change my preparation.

Went out to Stella’s, Rulloff’s and after-hours at a 3L’s. Her super was actually standing outside measuring the noise from the apartment with a decibel-meter. Impressive!

What a night :-)

Best Round of my Life

Posted by sethbc on February 07, 2006

Though they didn’t give out scores for my round tonight, I’m pretty sure I had the best round of my life. I was exceptionally pleased with how I answered the questions, with the slight exception of one or two cases i could have distinguished more clearly. This definitely gives me the impetus to work more on my respondents’ argument for Thursday!

What a game!

What a game. I’m happy to see Pittsburgh win this one. The commercials, while not wonderful, were decent. I happened to like the MacGuyver MasterCard commercial, the Disney one, and of course the Bud Light Commercials (particularly the grizzly bear and the magic fridge).

Mail Server

Posted by sethbc on February 05, 2006

I was trying to set my computer up as a mail server, but after hours of messing around with it, i realized, what the hell difference does it make?

Hopefully i can just get something simple set up to do relaying for my main address, but i don’t need a whole freaking webmail set up with all the craziness.

Prints

I’ve made a couple of prints to hang around the apartment, they’re available in my Photography gallery on smugmug, but I’m going to post them here as well :-)
