Well I’m in the Quarters now. I won my first round (which I argued as Respondent), and my second round (which I argued as Petitioner). This round I’ll be arguing as Respondent, which, at least arguably, is an easier side to argue for this case. For the most part, I feel like Respondent’s side has the more passionate arguments, and Petitioner’s side has more common sense arguments. That certainly doesn’t mean either side is more likely to win, but personally, I feel like my argument has better flow as Respondent.
Turns out my opponent wanted to argue Respondent as well, but I managed to win the coin flip! Come out and support me tomorrow if you’re at all inclined!
In other news, I’ve been learning French by reading Le Comte de Monte Cristo. The going is slow, but it’s amazing how fast I’ve been picking things up. I’m only through the first couple of chapters, and I feel like my reading ability is infinitely better than it was when I started. By the time i finish Tome 1, I think I might even be able to read Tome 2 without the translation handy!
