Still waiting on the UPS guy…

Hodgepodge

Last night I was over at Evan’s again, this time playing in a small 4-handed poker game. The game was no-limit, small buy-in. We had a pretty good time, and I actually did pretty well considering I was probably the most inexperienced player at the table (I also have the attention span of a gnat, so thinking about what someone is holding often escapes me).

Today has been a day of errands. I went to the mall and got a boat-load of new clothes, including: a leather jacket, three pairs of boots, two pairs of jeans, a pair of cords, and finally some miscellaneous socks. After the mall, I spent an hour driving around looking for Atlanta Ski and Snowboard (the delay was almost certainly due to my own incompetence). When I finally managed to locate their establishment, I got fitted in my boots, and checked out my skis and bindings. The setup is absolutely sick! The bindings and skis look awesome, and the boots are rock-solid. I ended up fitting better in the 30.5 boot, so I went with that one (particularly for the width of my foot in the toe box).

I’m really excited about tomorrow, because I finally get my camera. The weather has been awful here, but I was hoping to get some decent photos and start doing some editing. As noted in a previous post, I’ve had the lens for a number of days, but I’m still waiting on the camera. I’m pretty sure that Amazon requires a signature for the camera, so I’ll stay home tomorrow and wait it out.

Oh, a complete non sequitur, but I restrung my guitar a couple days ago, and have been doing some playing. I’m trying to pick up some Elliott Smith, but the experience can be humbling at times. His stuff ranges in difficulty from ‘moderate’ to ‘impossible to do with only one guitar’.

Alright, I think I’m going to spend the rest of the day either 1) at a Starbucks, or 2) firmly planted on the couch watching football. The difficulty is picking which thing I want to do. Any reluctance on my part to frequent the Starbucks this evening is solely due to the fact that I am exceedingly lazy. On the other hand, I really want a caramel light frappuccino. Decisions, decisions.

I crashed at Evan’s again last night. We went out to Rock Bottom and watched a movie called 25th hour. Not the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but it was definitely a little slow to get started. Kind of an introspective flick. Spike Lee made a good flick though. He definitely was able to capture both the relationships and the feelings on screen.

I was contemplating picking up Evan’s girlfriend from the airport with him, but I decided to go to Best Buy to pick up some accessories for my camera. I ended up getting a 4GB CF drive really cheap (which i’ll probably use for RAW+JPEG), a 1GB Ultra II Samsung (for JPEG), and a card reader for my mac. The card reader is actually a little ridiculous — it must support every kind of flash I’ve ever seen.

Other than that, today has been kind of a dull day, except for the WWF-style smack-down I laid on the customer service representatives at Amazon. I was supposed to get my camera today, but of course all I got was the lens. Go figure! Anyway, it’ll be here on Tuesday, and they gave me a bit of a discount and didn’t make me pay for the shipping. Dinner tonight was at Circle Sushi. The tuna tonight was absolutely incredible.

Movies

There is absolutely no movie out worth seeing right now. I mean, King Kong I saw, but it just wasn’t that great a flick. Way too long. We were thinking of going to see Naria, but I’m not sure that I’m really all that interested in it.

Evan and I went to Blockbuster, and there was nothing there either. I’m telling you, I was out of the country for four months, and nothing came out that looks appealing. When I’m at Best Buy tomorrow, I’ll probably pick up Batman Begins, Sahara and the last of the three Star Wars.

On a different note, I ordered a Digital Rebel XT, and it should be here tomorrow. I hope Amazon isn’t lying to me on the delivery time! I’ll probably go on a little photography expedition tomorrow, after I get my memory card that is. I’ll post a review of it a little later.

iPhoto to IPTC

Posted by on December 27, 2005

Apparently the smugmug uploader doesn’t support copying the iPhoto captions to the standard exif/IPTC data fields, so I’m going through and doing it manually with CaptionBuddy (which is available from apple’s iPhoto website).

I’m actually kind of wondering if PictureSync supports this stuff. Maybe I’ll just use that. Unfortunately though, PictureSync doesn’t have the iPhoto support that I’d hoped for, because I can’t just choose to upload specific albums.

Oh well.

My Best of Paris ‘04 photos are up now. I haven’t gone through and commented on all of them yet, but I’ll probably finish that up today.

We haven’t been at the law school all that much because we just don’t have class that much. That certainly is a welcome change from last semester. Unfortunately we don’t have our grades yet, though I’m sure we both did fine.

We’ve been kind of busy trying to plan our thanksgiving dinner, which we’re planning on doing sometime next week (though not necessarily on Thursday). The plan so far is to have a bunch of different things. Here’s a rundown of the temporary menu.

For Dinner

  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Sweet Potato Casserole
  • Corn
  • Buscuits & Gravy
  • Cornbread
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Stuffing
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • A Roast
  • A Turducken

For Dessert

  • Apple Pie
  • Peanut Butter Pie
  • Vanilla Ice Cream

The Turducken is the real piece de resistance. A chicken inside of a duck inside of a turkey. I’m looking forward to getting that one going.

We tried to go to the house of terror today, but unfortunately we forgot that museums are closed on Mondays. I guess we’ll just go shopping for cooking utensils and other non-fresh foodstuffs necessary for our thanksgiving. The current plan is to go to West End City Center to the really big match (and possibly look for some Crate and Barrel type thing).

Best Of Europe 2005

My Best of Europe 2005 Album is up at my photo site right now. I’ve tried to go through and caption all of the photos, though Mom pointed out that several captions contain errors. If anything jumps off the page for you, feel free to send me an email.

In other news, I have posted links to my three calendars on the right sidebar of my blog. You should be able to check most of my travel dates, class times, and any personal appointments I have marked down.
